Microsoft Relaunches Branded Mice and Keyboards Through Partnership with Incase
Microsoft's decision to stop manufacturing its branded mice and keyboards in the spring of 2023 marked the end of an era for the tech giant. The company had released its first PC mouse in 1983, followed by its first keyboard, the Microsoft Natural Keyboard, in 1994.
The Natural Keyboard was designed with ergonomics in mind, featuring a split and wavy design to reduce hand and wrist strain for long periods of typing. At its peak, it sold over 600,000 units per month.
In January 2024, Microsoft revealed that it had inked a licensing deal with U.S.-based firm Incase (owned by Onward Brands) to relaunch its branded accessories.
The resulting partnership has led to the re-release of popular products such as the Ergonomic Keyboard and Modern Mobile Mouse, among others. These items now bear Incase branding but still feature 'Designed by Microsoft' on their packaging and website listings.
