Microsoft Removes Frustrating OneDrive Prompt from Windows 11

Microsoft has made changes to its Windows 11 operating system by removing a notification that had been causing frustration for some users. The company previously used a full-screen prompt to encourage users to enable OneDrive backups, but this option did not provide a clear way to decline the offer.

In the past, when a similar prompt appeared on a running OS, users were given either a 'Continue' button or an option to be reminded again in three days. However, there was no direct way to permanently decline the offer from that screen.

Microsoft has now updated its approach and introduced a new full-screen window with a clear 'Dismiss' button. This allows users to choose between opting out of OneDrive backups and continuing to use the cloud service.

The company still recommends using OneDrive to protect personal data and preserve files, highlighting three key benefits: storing PC data in OneDrive cloud storage, preventing the loss of important files and memories, and easily syncing settings across two or more devices.
