Microsoft Restructures Financial Reporting to Highlight AI Initiatives

Microsoft (MSFT) has announced a significant restructuring of its financial reporting to provide greater transparency into its AI initiatives and cloud computing operations. The company is transitioning from three reporting segments to two: 'Agents and Infra' and 'Devices and Consumer.' This change aims to give investors clearer visibility into the performance of Microsoft's Azure cloud business, which has become increasingly important for both the company and its customers.

The move follows a Bernstein analyst's note that this new framework will allow investors to more easily understand Azure's performance. Although it won't specifically break down revenue generated from AI-related activities, the restructuring is expected to provide a clearer picture of Microsoft's operational changes driven by AI.
