Microsoft Retires Admin App, Pushing Users Towards Dedicated Management Tools
Microsoft has announced that it will be retiring its Admin app by October 2026. The retirement of the app is part of Microsoft's effort to push administrators toward using dedicated management tools, such as the Teams admin center or Microsoft 365 admin center.
The Admin app was primarily designed for small businesses that need access to basic administrative controls without having to navigate through multiple portals. Starting this month, new customers will no longer have the app pre-installed in Teams, but existing users can still access it manually until October 2026 when it will be completely removed.
Microsoft recommends using its dedicated admin centers for tasks that were previously handled by the Admin app. Administrators can also use the Microsoft 365 Admin Agent to help with basic management tasks.
