Microsoft Revives Classic Accessories with Incase Partnership
Microsoft's foray into keyboard and mouse manufacturing began in 1983 with its first PC mouse, followed by the launch of the Microsoft Natural Keyboard in 1994. The company promoted its Natural Keyboard as an ergonomic product designed to reduce hand and wrist strain for people typing for long periods.
The Natural Keyboard sold over 600,000 units per month at its peak, thanks to its distinctive split and wavy design. However, in the spring of 2023, Microsoft announced it would stop manufacturing Microsoft-branded mice and keyboards to focus on accessories for its Surface line of laptops and tablets.
Just over a year later, in January 2024, it was revealed that Microsoft had inked a licensing deal with Incase (owned by Onward Brands) to relaunch its discontinued products. The partnership allowed Incase to re-release several popular items, including the Ergonomic Keyboard and Modern Mobile Mouse, both of which feature 'Designed by Microsoft' branding.
