Microsoft Rolls Out Emergency Update for Troubled Windows 11 Patch
Microsoft has released an emergency update for its recent Windows 11 patch, which was rolled out just last Tuesday. The September 2026 update aimed to fix nearly 1000 security flaws and introduce new features, but it also introduced several bugs.
The update caused problems with AMD Radeon GPUs, leading to crashes due to driver instability. Reinstalling the driver didn't solve the issue, affecting most contemporary AMD graphics cards. Microsoft has fixed an issue with Remote Desktop Services where RDS might become unstable and cause connection and sign-in failures.
Additionally, users reported audio output and microphone input issues, as well as botched audio device configurations. Explorer may display a black screen after logging in, and the File History backup feature is not detecting external drives. Owners of HP and Lenovo systems are advised to hold off on this update due to serious issues.
