Microsoft Rolls Out Fabric Platform in Public Preview for GCC High Customers
Microsoft has made its Fabric platform available in public preview for GCC High customers, starting September 2nd. The full rollout is scheduled for October 1st.
Fabric unifies data through OneLake, combining data integration, real-time intelligence, business intelligence, databases, and analytics into one open software-as-a-service offering. This allows organizations to work with information stored in cloud, on-premises, and third-party environments without duplicating data.
Douglas Phillips, president and chief technology officer of Microsoft Specialized Clouds, notes that government agencies are moving toward AI systems and agents that can take action rather than simply answer questions. However, the distributed nature of information among clouds, databases, applications, and operational systems limits the organizational context available to those systems.
The Fabric platform addresses this issue by providing a modern data foundation that brings together analytical, operational, transactional, structured, and unstructured information while meeting security, compliance, and governance requirements. OneLake serves as the data layer for Microsoft Fabric, allowing users to access that information without duplicating data.
