A recent leak of Microsoft employee salaries has shed light on the compensation packages for over 600 employees, revealing a rigid hierarchy and high base pay. According to the data, entry-level software engineers typically start at levels 59 or 60, with a base salary ranging from $111,000 to $155,500.

This is significantly higher than the national average of around $53,000, but it's only half the battle. As employees climb the ladder to levels 63 or 64, their base pay can skyrocket up to $245,000, not including bonuses that can hit $60,000.

Senior management and principal engineering roles come with total compensation packages that are truly eye-watering, sometimes exceeding $300,000 when factoring in performance bonuses. However, a recent thread on the anonymous forum Blind reveals that many employees aren't exactly thrilled about their salaries.
