Microsoft Sees Bright Future for Microsoft 365 Commercial Cloud Growth
Microsoft's commercial cloud growth is expected to accelerate through fiscal 2027 as the company continues to expand its Microsoft 365 seats. The adoption of Microsoft 365 Copilot has been increasing across the commercial customer base, with paid Copilot seats exceeding 30 million in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026. This growth is supported by broader seat adoption and deeper integration across enterprise workflows, making it stickier within organizations.
The introduction of the E7 offering, which combines Copilot, E5, Entra, and Agent 365, has also added another growth avenue for Microsoft. Early adoption suggests growing interest in integrated AI and security capabilities, with hundreds of enterprise customers purchasing millions of E7 seats within two months of its launch.
However, lower average revenue per user from new frontline and small and medium-sized business seats could temper the near-term benefit from higher seat volumes. Nevertheless, continued Copilot adoption and premium SKU expansion are expected to support Microsoft 365 Commercial cloud growth.
