Microsoft Slaps Hour Caps on Xbox Cloud Gaming
Microsoft has introduced hour caps for its Xbox Cloud Gaming service, which is included in paid Game Pass subscriptions. Starting in November 2026, users will be limited to a set number of hours per month based on their subscription tier. The new limits will only affect a small percentage of users who currently stream games for more than 15 hours.
The caps are as follows: Game Pass Ultimate subscribers (who pay $22.99 per month) will get 15 hours, while Game Pass Premium account holders (who pay $14.99 per month) will have 10 hours. Game Pass Essential users (who pay $9.99 a month) will be limited to five hours.
Microsoft says the move is aimed at finding a 'better balance between usage and costs' after years of unlimited access. The company has not published overage pricing yet, but plans to share more details closer to the November rollout.
