Microsoft Stock Roars Ahead 24.6% in July on Azure Growth
Microsoft's stock price rose significantly in July, outperforming both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite indexes. The tech giant's shares gained 24.6% for the month, a stark contrast to the market's near-0.1% decline.
The company's earnings release on July 30 was the catalyst for this surge, with Microsoft reporting quarterly revenue of $90.0 billion, up 18% year over year. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $4.74, exceeding analyst estimates by a wide margin.
Azure, Microsoft's cloud infrastructure platform, saw sales soar 43% and crossed the $100 billion milestone for the fiscal year. CEO Satya Nadella highlighted the company's progress on AI adoption, noting that customers are placing confidence in Microsoft to power their transformation.
Looking ahead, CFO Amy Hood offered an optimistic outlook, projecting first-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue of between $89.85 billion and $90.95 billion, representing year-over-year growth of 16% to 17%.
