Microsoft Stock Surges on Strong Q4 Earnings and Record Cloud Revenue

Microsoft's stock surged more than 15% on Thursday following its strong fourth quarter earnings report, which beat Wall Street estimates. The software and cloud giant reported revenue of $39.3 billion for its Intelligent Cloud segment, exceeding expectations of $38.1 billion.

The company also announced that its Azure service topped $100 billion in revenue for the first time. Microsoft's capital expenditures came in below expected levels, with a total of $41 billion spent on leases and other costs, compared to anticipated $42 billion.

Investors seem relieved by this news, as concerns about aggressive spending had been weighing on the company's stock performance. This announcement appears to be a positive sign for Microsoft's future prospects, despite its year-to-date decline of 5%.
