Microsoft Stock Ticks Up Amid China Windows 10 Phase-out
Microsoft's stock price has ticked up 0.17% to $482.44 after news broke that China is phasing out its special Windows 10 version made for government use.
The company stated that its revenue from China accounts for only 1.5% of its worldwide total, which translates to approximately $4.98 billion in annual sales based on fiscal 2026 revenue projections.
This proportion is used to illustrate the limited direct earnings risk associated with the Chinese market, as Microsoft's most recent quarterly revenue growth was around 2.8 times higher than a China revenue proxy.
The removal of Windows 10 from government computers does not seem to have had a significant impact on consumer usage, as Windows captured 87.64% of desktop web traffic in China in July, with Windows 10 making up 43.56% of this share.
