Microsoft Sued Over Alleged Unauthorized Use of Journalism Content for AI

The Seattle Times and Newsday have filed lawsuits against OpenAI and Microsoft, accusing them of using their journalism content without permission to train AI models. The lawsuits warn that generative AI could severely damage the journalism industry by consuming and replicating human-created content for commercial gain.

This follows a similar lawsuit in 2023 by The New York Times. Microsoft expressed surprise but is open to discussions to resolve the dispute.
