Microsoft Tackles Windows 11 Bottlenecks, But No Timeline for Key Update
Microsoft is making steady progress in improving Windows 11, particularly in areas like boot time and memory optimization. In an update provided by Mark Linton, Corporate Vice President of Windows & Devices, it was revealed that the company is working on reducing the wait time for users to reach the home screen, even with high-performance SSDs.
Linton noted that Microsoft is continuously improving Windows 11 based on customer feedback and will release updates accordingly. However, no concrete launch timeline has been provided for the highly anticipated memory optimization update, which aims to make systems with 8GB of RAM capable of running the operating system smoothly.
This development comes as a relief for laptop manufacturers who have had to reduce base memory configurations due to the ongoing DRAM shortage. Currently, many laptops ship with just 8GB of RAM instead of the usual 16GB, making it difficult for users to run Windows 11 fluidly.
