Microsoft Teams Introduces End-to-End Encryption for Voice Calls
Microsoft Teams is getting another round of updates, including fully encrypted voice calls for desktop and mobile users. The new feature will be available from July, providing an additional layer of security for ad hoc conversations held over the app.
The end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for Microsoft Teams voice calls was announced in March as part of a handful of security enhancements to its remote-working and meeting platform during its Ignite 2021 conference. However, the exact arrival date was only confirmed this week via the Microsoft 365 roadmap.
According to the roadmap, encrypted VoIP calls will be available on Teams for desktop, mobile, iOS, and Android platforms from July. This means that users conducting sensitive online conversations will have an additional option for secure communication.
