Microsoft Teams Up with Aker Solutions to Boost Carbon Capture Projects
Aker Solutions and Microsoft are teaming up to advance carbon capture and storage (CCS) and carbon dioxide removal (CDR) projects worldwide. The partnership aims to accelerate the maturity, bankability, and delivery of these projects by reducing execution risk and strengthening investment readiness.
The companies will combine their expertise, with Aker providing advisory and engineering services and Microsoft contributing its digital technologies, AI, and monitoring, reporting, and verification capabilities. This collaboration will create a single pathway from early feasibility through operations, accelerating credible carbon capture and removal solutions across the value chain.
In related news, Mantel, a Massachusetts-based startup, has raised $18 million to scale its high-temperature, liquid-phase carbon capture system. The funding brings Mantel's total capital to $50 million, which will support commercial projects in power generation, oil and gas, and pulp and paper.
