Microsoft Teams Up with DE-CIX for Global Azure ExpressRoute Metro Connectivity
Microsoft and DE-CIX have launched Azure ExpressRoute Metro connectivity in five cities worldwide. The rollout covers New York, Frankfurt, Madrid, Amsterdam, and Singapore.
The service provides georedundant connections to Microsoft Azure, allowing customers to connect to two separate ExpressRoute locations within the same metropolitan area. This ensures traffic flows even if one path fails, supporting sensitive enterprise applications and AI workloads.
DE-CIX delivers the service through its carrier- and data-centre-neutral cloud and AI exchanges, with remote access available from other exchange locations via its backbone network.
The expansion reflects growing demand for network designs that reduce disruption risk for cloud-based systems. Azure ExpressRoute Metro meets this requirement by linking customers to separate Azure peering points within the same city.
