Microsoft Touts Franchise Film Rights Package for Over $300 Million

Microsoft is reportedly looking to sell film and television rights for more than a dozen Xbox gaming franchises, including Halo, World of Warcraft, The Elder Scrolls, and Diablo. According to Puck journalist Matthew Belloni, the company is seeking a single partner and expects to secure a long-term agreement valued at over $300 million.

The package excludes some franchises that are already tied up with other studios, such as Fallout with Amazon, Call of Duty with Paramount, and Gears of War with Netflix. Sea of Thieves, which was announced for a film adaptation in June, is being developed by Xbox in partnership with Hisako Films.

Netflix, Paramount, and Universal are already reviewing the proposal, but at least one potential buyer has questioned the viability of the deal due to the requested sum.
