Microsoft Unifies Copilot Apps, Ditches Three Legacy Features
Microsoft is simplifying its AI offerings by merging its two 'Copilot' apps into one. The company will discontinue three legacy features as part of this transition, including Podcasts, Deep Research, and Group Chat messages.
The new app will combine the functionality of both Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot platforms. This means that users who currently use multiple apps for different purposes will only need to use one from now on.
Users who currently use Microsoft 365 Copilot should only need to update their existing app, with minor navigational changes expected. Those using the personal account version of Copilot will have to move over to the new app on desktop and mobile devices, but all chats and content will be preserved.
The three features being discontinued will no longer be accessible after August 18th, so users should export any valuable data before then. Microsoft is consolidating its AI offerings, with other companies like Google and OpenAI also removing or retiring their own AI features.
