Microsoft Unifies Copilot Apps in Bid for Simpler Experience
Microsoft is simplifying its Copilot app experience by consolidating consumer and Microsoft 365 Copilot apps into a single destination.
The change, set to begin on August 18, will address a fragmented product strategy that required users to navigate separate applications for AI chat and productivity tools.
The unified app will combine Copilot chat and image generation with access to Word, Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft 365 apps. Users will also be able to connect Copilot to their email, calendar, and cloud storage, allowing the assistant to draw on additional context.
Microsoft is retiring several features, including Copilot Podcasts and the consumer version of Deep Research, which will become unavailable starting August 18.
