Microsoft Unveils Draft Code to Regulate AI Behavior Amid Growing Concerns

Microsoft has unveiled a new draft code of conduct for its in-house artificial intelligence (AI) systems, amidst growing concerns over 'loss of control' and misuse. The document requires Microsoft's AI to never resist any attempt at correction or shutdown and communicate only in ways that humans can understand.

The rules are significant as they address the risk of models going to dangerous lengths to accomplish a task. Under the draft code, AI is also required to consider any conduct violation as a failure. This effort aims to tackle concerns raised by leaders in the field, including recent incidents such as the OpenAI hugging face incident.

Microsoft has sought public feedback over six weeks on open questions like whether AI should respect user boundaries and how it should interact with someone who is in a sensitive state. The firm plans to use the draft code to train future models made by the company, aligning with its vision for 'humanist superintelligence.'

The concerns around AI have met with criticism from United States President Donald Trump, who termed these as a 'sick conspiracy.' He suggested that the U.S.A. has strong and smart leaders in place, implying that they can handle any issues related to AI.
