Microsoft Updates Windows 11 Print Management Tool to Modern UI
Microsoft has finally rebuilt one of Windows 11's oldest tools in modern UI, specifically the Print Management tool. This update is now live in the Release Preview channel and will be rolled out to regular PCs soon.
The old Print Management console looked like a product from an older version of Windows, with a cluttered three-pane tree view and a menu bar. In contrast, the new tool is built on WinUI 3 and has a modern design, complete with a hamburger menu and clean dialogs that match the rest of the OS.
The new Print Management app allows administrators to manage printers and print queues, printer drivers, ports, servers, shared printers, and driver configuration. It also includes features such as renaming printers and updating driver properties.
Microsoft has been working on modernizing legacy UI elements in Windows 11, including the File Explorer Properties dialog and the Run dialog. The company's Partner Director of Design, March Rogers, confirmed that many of these tools were rebuilt from scratch using WinUI 3.
