Microsoft VP Warns About Proliferation of Low-Quality AI-Generated Content
Microsoft's executive in charge of Office and LinkedIn has expressed concerns about the spread of low-quality AI-generated content. Ryan Roslansky, Executive Vice President, warned that when both content production and processing are dominated by AI, information value is diluted through repeated transcription.
Roslansky shared his experience with an internal document generated by AI, which he then summarized using another AI tool. However, the result offered no new insights, highlighting the issue of 'AI generates, AI reads, AI summarizes' that leads to a vicious cycle of efficiency without accuracy or added value.
The executive emphasized the importance of human judgment in key decision-making and data verification, rather than relying solely on AI-generated content. He also recommended establishing attribution accountability and review mechanisms to prevent the spread of low-quality information.
