Microsoft Warns of Mainstream Support End Date for Windows Server 2022
Microsoft has notified IT administrators that Windows Server 2022 will reach its mainstream support end date on October 13, 2026. This means that after this date, no new features or security updates will be released for the version.
The company announced Windows Server 2022 in March 2021 and it became available as a Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) release in September 2021, with 10 years of support. Now, Microsoft is advising administrators to upgrade their systems to Windows Server 2025, which was released in November 2024.
Windows Server 2025 will reach the end of support on November 13, 2029, but it will continue to receive security updates until November 14, 2034. Microsoft is offering a free 180-day trial for Windows Server 2025 through its Evaluation Center.
