Microsoft's $450 Billion Surge Sets New Record, But What Comes Next?
On July 30, Microsoft's market value surged by approximately $450 billion, setting a new record for the largest one-day market value gain on record. This surpassed Nvidia's previous record of $441 billion set in April 2025.
The stock price rose by 15.5% to finish at $451.10 after Microsoft released its fiscal fourth-quarter report, which showed an 18% revenue growth and guidance for Azure to grow around 45% in constant currency in the first quarter of the new fiscal year.
Despite the significant increase, shares still trade about 12% below their 52-week high of $553.72.
Looking at history, six other days since February 2022 when market value growth was similar to Microsoft's record day are worth studying for clues on what comes next.
