Microsoft's Dominant Market Share Turns Into Security Challenge

With over 1.4 billion active devices per month in 2025, Microsoft's dominant market share makes it a target for malicious actors.

However, Microsoft has implemented various security settings that allow users to protect themselves on Windows without downloading any third-party software.

One such setting is Windows Hello, which provides an easier and more secure way to log into your Windows PC by using a PIN or biometrics (facial recognition or fingerprint recognition) instead of a password.

To enable Windows Hello, go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options and click either Facial recognition, Fingerprint recognition, or PIN. Then follow the instructions to set everything up.

Another essential security tool is the firewall, which helps prevent hackers from breaching your device by remotely injecting malicious code. Windows has a built-in firewall that can be enabled by going to Settings > Privacy & security > Windows Security > Firewall & network protection and toggling on Microsoft Defender Firewall.
