Microsoft's KB5120998 Update Brings Mouse Setting Reset Bug to Non-English PCs
A bug affecting non-English Windows 11 systems has been identified in Microsoft's KB5120998 August 2026 preview update.
The issue, which reverts mouse settings to default after installation, only affects devices running Windows 11 versions 25H2 and 24H2.
According to user reports, the bug causes cursor personalization settings to change or reset automatically, making it impossible for users to restore their previous settings.
Microsoft confirmed the issue on Friday, just one day after releasing the update, which includes Start menu, taskbar, and Windows search improvements.
