Microsoft's Layoffs Leave id Software Unable to Create Large-Scale AAA Games

id Software programmer Chris Hays has spoken out against Microsoft's recent decision to lay off staff at the studio. According to Hays, the layoffs have left the team smaller than during the development of Doom 2016 and only allows for projects similar in scope to those from the Xbox 360 era.

Hays stated that after the layoffs, creating large-scale AAA games has become 'almost impossible' due to the loss of important specialists. He believes that management is trying to reassure employees by saying that id Software will continue working on its usual projects, but Hays doesn't think this is true.

He claims that managers have been given strict instructions on what they are allowed to say in order to prevent panic among remaining employees and their departure.
