Middle East Hopes Boost US Stocks to Record High
The US stock market started the week on a positive note, driven by hopes of de-escalating tensions in the Middle East. This development led to a decrease in crude prices, which in turn boosted investor sentiment.
Amazon.com was among the top performers, rising 3.8% and reaching a market value of $3 trillion for the first time. The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 274 points, or 0.52%, to 52,759.06 at the open, while the S&P 500 rose 15.1 points, or 0.2%, to 7,504.78.
The Nasdaq Composite also gained ground, rising by 78.8 points, or 0.31%, to 25,452.66. The market's positive start was attributed to the upcoming earnings and economic data releases, which investors are closely watching.
