Midland has extended its city boundaries to include land owned by Cumberland & Western Resources. The property covers 4.09 acres and is located just north of Costco, alongside State Highway 158.

The annexation will accommodate a commercial development by JPMorgan Chase, which plans to build on the site. Cumulus Design is representing Cumberland & Western Resources in the request.

The city's planning and development officer Elizabeth Triggs said that the lot at the corner of Sinclair Avenue and 158 will be the future home of Chase bank. The other two lots are currently unknown as to their intended use, but may include landscaping and an art installation.
