Midnight Sun Mural Painted in Downtown Anchorage

A giant mural is being painted in downtown Anchorage as part of Coca-Cola Bottling of Alaska's nationwide 'Paint the Nation' initiative. The mural, titled 'Under the Midnight Sun', features familiar Alaska imagery, including salmon, bears and moose.

Designed by local artist Dawn Gerety, the painting is being brought to life by Jacob Duncan from Georgia. This is his first trip to Alaska, and he's excited to contribute to the local art scene while creating something that will 'make someone's day better'.

The community can watch the mural take shape over the coming days, with an official dedication planned for Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 11 a.m. at 1016 West Sixth Avenue.
