A massive recall has been issued for over 1 million attic stairway ladders sold at major home improvement stores, including Home Depot and Lowe's. The ladders, manufactured by Louisville Ladder Inc., have been linked to reports of falls and injuries.

The recall affects 1,770,000 ladders sold under the Louisville, Featherlite, Lite, and Century brand names, which were sold nationwide between November 2012 and July 2026 for between $170 and $600. The ladders in question feature aluminum or wood frames with gas struts and come equipped with handrails that fold into the attic.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, there have been 11 reports of bolts breaking on the ladders, including one incident where someone suffered injuries to their neck, head, and back. Louisville Ladder has stated that the broken bolts could cause users to fall or suffer serious injury.
