Million-Plus Ladders Recalled Amid Safety Concerns
A major recall has been issued for over 1 million attic stairway ladders due to potential falls and injuries. Louisville Ladder, Inc., a Kentucky importer, announced the recall of 1,770,000 aluminum or wood frame ladders with gas struts that come with handrails and fold into the attic.
The company stated that the bolts on the ladders could break, causing those using them to be injured or fall to their deaths. The recalled ladders were sold under the Louisville, Featherlite, Lite, and Century brand names.
The affected ladders were manufactured in Mexico and sold between November 2012 and July 2026 for between $170 and $600. They come in various sizes to fit different attic openings, including widths of 22.5 inches, 25.5 inches, and 30 inches wide, as well as lengths of 54 inches and 60 inches.
The recalled ladders were sold at Home Depot, Lowe's, Do It Best, Orgill, Amazon, and other retailers nationwide. According to the announcement, there have been 11 reports of a bolt breaking, including one report of an injury to the neck, head, and back.
