MIT Bengaluru Unveils AI Lab in Partnership with IBM
MIT Bengaluru has launched an AI Lab in collaboration with IBM. The lab, named 'IBM-MIT AI Lab- MAHE Intelligence GPU (MIG)', is powered by advanced GPU-enabled computing infrastructure and houses a High Performance Computing (HPC) facility.
The facility will support cutting-edge research in machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, computer vision, natural language processing, cybersecurity, healthcare, intelligent systems, and data analytics. It can simultaneously support 30 high-performance computing workloads.
Through IBM Skills Build, the institute will establish an AI Learning Initiative and offer AI awareness workshops, immersive bootcamps, hands-on training in AI and Machine Learning. This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide by reaching students from tier 2 and tier 3 institutions and equip them with industry-relevant skills for the AI-driven economy.
Priyank Kharge, Minister for IT & BT of Karnataka, said that this collaboration highlights the power of academia-industry partnerships in strengthening Karnataka's AI ecosystem. Madhu Veeraraghavan, Pro Vice Chancellor, MAHE Bengaluru, added that their collaboration with IBM is a significant step towards building an inclusive and globally competitive AI ecosystem.
