Mock GOP Website Redirects Users to Epstein Files
A mock website, gopdallas2026.com, pretending to be the official site for the Republican Party's midterm convention in Dallas, Texas, temporarily topped Google search results and redirected users to the Department of Justice's Epstein files.
The prank website, which included a background photo of the American Airlines Center, where the convention will take place, was discovered on Friday. It offered users the chance to 'discover details about the 2026 RNC Midterm Convention', but instead led them to the DOJ's website for the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Republican officials quickly denounced the fake site on social media, pointing visitors to the official GOPConvention.com. They called the reports circulating online 'FAKE NEWS!'
Democratic lawmakers used the opportunity to revive discussion of the Epstein Files, which has been a source of criticism for the Trump administration. They pointed out that certain records published by the DOJ appear unnecessarily redacted.
