Moderna-Merck Melanoma Vaccine Trial Yields Promising Results
Moderna's personalized mRNA cancer therapy, developed in collaboration with Merck, has shown promising results in a late-stage trial for melanoma treatment. The combination of Moderna's therapy and Merck's Keytruda reduced the risk of melanoma recurrence and spread compared to using Keytruda alone.
The interim results from the trial were statistically significant, prompting a nearly 90% surge in Moderna's shares. Merck also saw a 10% gain.
Analysts and experts are cautiously optimistic about the development, with some noting that the full trial data has yet to be released and manufacturing personalized vaccines at scale may be complex and expensive.
