Moderna Stock Sees 127% Surge Amid Oncology Breakthroughs
Moderna's stock has experienced a remarkable resurgence over the past year, surging nearly sixfold and by around 127% in recent weeks. The biotech company's breakthroughs in its pipeline have contributed to this surge, particularly with its non-COVID-19 vaccine developments.
The latest increase in Moderna's stock price stems from positive top-line results for the phase 3 INTerpath-001 trial of its Intismeran Autogene vaccine candidate. In partnership with Merck, the study involved giving patients with Stage IIB-IV melanoma a combination treatment that includes Intismeran Autogene and Keytruda.
While this news is promising for Moderna's pivot towards oncology, some analysts caution against getting too excited. The market may pull back as it determines a value for the company's future potential, considering its estimated 2026 revenue of just $2.1 billion and forecast losses of $8.55 per share this year.
Before investing in Moderna, consider that its current stock price is around $140 to $145 per share against a nearly $60 billion market capitalization. This raises questions about whether the company can hold onto or even add to these latest gains.
