Moderna's mRNA Therapy Boosts Melanoma Treatment Efficacy
Moderna's mRNA technology has shown promising results in oncology research. In a Phase 3 study, individualized neoantigen therapy intismeran improved recurrence-free survival and distant metastasis-free survival in melanoma patients when combined with Keytruda, relative to Keytruda alone.
The study found that the combination of intismeran and Keytruda resulted in better outcomes for patients compared to using Keytruda alone. This is a significant development for Moderna and its partner Merck, as it could lead to new treatment options for melanoma patients.
Moderna shares rose nearly 150% on August 19 after the positive Phase 3 readout, while Merck's stock increased over 10%. The results of this study confirm the potential of mRNA technology in oncology and could have significant implications for future cancer treatments.
