Moderna's mRNA Vaccine Shows Promising Results in Melanoma Trial
Moderna and Merck's Phase 3 trial of intismeran autogene, an mRNA-based vaccine for melanoma patients, has yielded promising results. The vaccine proved effective in preventing melanoma from returning or spreading in patients who had already undergone surgery to remove their tumors.
The trial involved over 1,000 high-risk melanoma patients and paired the vaccine with Merck's immunotherapy drug Keytruda. US President Donald Trump praised the development, stating that it will lead to tremendous innovation medically.
Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk also weighed in on the news, suggesting that advances in mRNA technology could fundamentally change how diseases are treated.
