Monmouth University's Dr. Marilyn McNeil Earns Nike Lifetime Achievement Award for Women in Sports

Former Monmouth University Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Marilyn McNeil is set to receive a prestigious honor for her dedication to advancing women in sports. McNeil, who retired from her position after a 53-year career in 2021, will be recognized as a Nike Lifetime Achievement Award honoree by Women Leaders in Sports at the 2026 National Convention in Chicago.

McNeil's illustrious tenure at Monmouth included serving as the first female athletic director at any New Jersey college or university when she was hired in 1994. She led the Hawks to numerous victories, including 119 regular season conference championships and 38 team appearances in various NCAA Tournaments.

In addition to her work at Monmouth, McNeil held prominent positions in national organizations, including serving on the Division I NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics and Management Council and as President of National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA). She was also named 2011 Division I-A-AA Administrator of the Year by NACWAA.
