Monstropolis Expansion Heats Up with New Construction Photos and Insider Details
The long-awaited Monstropolis expansion at Disney's Hollywood Studios is moving forward rapidly. According to recent construction photos and insider information, the project may be on track for an early 2027 opening. One of the main attractions in this new land will be the Monsters, Inc. Doors Coaster, a ride that promises to deliver a thrilling experience for fans of the beloved Disney-Pixar franchise.
The expansion also includes a reimagining of MuppetVision Theater, which will become The Glob Theater and feature a brand-new show packed with cutting-edge technology. Walt Disney World has invested $22.4 million in this transformation alone, indicating that Disney is taking a big-budget approach to the production.
In addition to the ride and theater, Monstropolis will also feature new themed restaurants, including Harryhausen's, which is expected to be a high-end dining experience inspired by the iconic restaurant from the Monsters, Inc. movie. The restaurant's design will likely include details such as chopstick-themed entrance markers and tooth-shaped windows.
While some fans may be disappointed that MuppetVision Theater is being replaced, the new production at The Glob Theater promises to deliver a wow-moment unlike anything seen before at Walt Disney World. Whether or not this will be enough to silence critics remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Monstropolis is shaping up to be an immersive and exciting addition to the Disney Parks.
