Monstropolis Takes Shape: Disney's Immersive Expansion in Hollywood Studios

Disney's latest expansion project in Hollywood Studios has been making waves among fans of the beloved Monsters, Inc. franchise. A recent behind-the-scenes look at Monstropolis, set to open in 2027, gives us a glimpse into the immersive world that Imagineers are creating.

The land will feature Dark Avenue as its main street, connecting iconic locations such as the Glob Theater and Harryhausen's restaurant. According to Disney, 'monster-fying' the area involves adding teeth to windows and other details to bring the city to life. This attention to detail ensures that the buildings can withstand Florida weather while maintaining their authenticity.

Imagineers are currently building mock-ups of the structures to test color and texture before implementing them on the actual buildings. The end result is expected to be a faithful recreation of Monstropolis, complete with its unique architecture and charm.
