Morgan State Unveils AI-Driven Research Campus with Google Partnership
Morgan State University is partnering with Google to build an AI-driven research campus. This collaboration will provide high-performance computing infrastructure for faculty and students to conduct complex work in fields like AI, cybersecurity, climate science, and health sciences.
The partnership secures access to GPU compute resources through Google's Program for Accelerated Research (GPAR). Morgan State aims to achieve Carnegie R1 classification, which would grant the university vital federal funding, attract top talent, and advance equity in academic research.
Morgan State is developing its own AI platform, Obsidian AI, which powers research discoveries, workforce development, and campus-wide innovation while maintaining control over governance, security, and accountability. The Google partnership will further cement Morgan's leadership in sovereign AI.
