MSC Air Cargo Boosts 777-8F Backlog with New Order
Boeing's 777-8F backlog has exceeded 80 aircraft, thanks to an order from MSC Air Cargo for five of the next-generation freighters. The deal was announced at the Farnborough International Airshow in 2026 and marks MSC's first commitment to the Boeing 777X family.
MSC Air Cargo is one of the world's largest container shipping companies, with a global network of over 900 vessels serving more than 500 ports across 260 trade routes. The company has chosen the 777-8F as its next-generation freighter due to its improved fuel efficiency and lower carbon emissions.
The Boeing 777-8F is designed to meet future regulatory requirements, including stricter ICAO emissions standards that will come into effect in 2028. The aircraft's production will end ahead of this deadline, making the 777-8F a necessary replacement for aging freighters like the Boeing 747-400F and MD-11F.
