MSU Brings Amazon Lockers to Campus, Boosting Student Convenience
Montana State University (MSU) has joined over 750 locations across 500 campuses in the US by introducing Amazon Lockers, an optional service for package delivery. The four lockers will be located at strategic points on campus: North Hedges, South Hedges, Johnstone Center, and near the Nelson Story and Peter Koch Towers.
According to Michael Becker, vice president of University Communications, 'We anticipate that the lockers will help reduce the number of packages front desk staff handle while increasing convenience for students by giving them another delivery option when they order from Amazon.'
The service comes at no cost to the university and is managed by Amazon. It's an optional feature, and pre-existing delivery options will remain available, including traditional delivery for Amazon orders.
Amazon approached MSU about a year ago with the idea of placing lockers on campus, which would alleviate the challenge of limited space to store packages at front desks. Students and families ordering from Amazon can select locker locations near their address or zip code as a delivery option when the lockers become operational for this fall semester.
