Munster Calls on Apple CEO Ternus to Make $50m AI Hire in First Year
Veteran tech investor Gene Munster is urging new Apple CEO John Ternus to make a significant artificial intelligence (AI) hire within his first year, even if it costs $50 million annually. Munster believes this move would help reverse the company's talent drain and keep up with the rapidly advancing AI landscape.
According to Munster, Apple risks losing control of the consumer-AI interface if it doesn't act quickly. He notes that Ternus' background in hardware and recruiting positions him well to attract top talent.
The suggestion comes as Ternus assumes leadership following Tim Cook's departure on September 1, 2026. Under Cook's tenure, Apple saw significant revenue growth from $108 billion to $416 billion, with profit increasing more than fourfold to $112 billion.
