Muon Space Nets $250m from Google and Salesforce for Wildfire Detection Constellation
Muon Space has raised $250m in a funding round backed by Google and Salesforce. The investment is one of the largest cheques yet written to a company focused on wildfire detection.
The constellation, called FireSat, was developed with the Earth Fire Alliance and Google Research. It uses dozens of satellites to spot fires while they are still small, allowing for timely intervention.
Muon Space not only builds and operates FireSat but also designs mission-specific constellations using its Halo platform. The company aims to produce 500 spacecraft per year from a facility in San Jose, making it one of the leading players in the industry.
