Musk Puts Weight Behind Nvidia's Dominance in AI Computing
Nvidia has gained a significant advantage over AMD in the AI computing market, according to a recent endorsement from Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla. During a Q2 conference call, Musk stated that his companies will exclusively use Nvidia's products due to their superior technology.
Musk specifically praised Nvidia's Vera Rubin architecture, which he believes is the best in the industry. The new architecture provides a tenfold reduction in inference token cost and a fourfold decrease in the number of GPUs required to train an AI model compared to previous architectures like Hopper or Blackwell.
Nvidia has been growing faster than AMD, with total revenue rising by 106% and data center revenue increasing by 117%. In contrast, AMD's total revenue rose 50%, while data center revenue increased by 107%. Nvidia also trades at a significantly lower price-to-earnings ratio than AMD.
