Musk Warns Nvidia's $105 Billion Ohio Data Center Will Take Longer Than Expected
Nvidia's $105 billion Ohio data center project for OpenAI is facing delays, according to Elon Musk. The project aims to support OpenAI's growing artificial intelligence infrastructure needs and has a potential power capacity of up to 8 gigawatts.
The data center, backed by Nvidia and SoftBank Group-owned SB Energy, will take longer than expected to come online, Musk warned on X. The facility is set to initially target 800 megawatts in 2028, with the first commitments expected to begin that year.
Nvidia has agreed to provide a guarantee of up to $105 billion tied to OpenAI's lease of the data center. This is part of a larger investment by Nvidia and SoftBank in SB Energy, which includes a $1.5 billion commitment from Nvidia following earlier investments from OpenAI and SoftBank.
